RIG Lecture Series

Content

The course is structured as an inter-institutional lecture series, concurrently offered by various German institutions affiliated with the Robotics Institute Germany (RIG). In the lecture series students are offered an overview of significant open research directions related to AI-powered robotics by leading figures in the field. The lecturers are affiliated with various RIG partner institutions and students from various RIG partner institutions attend the lectures remotely. The lectures cover topics such as cognitive robotics, robot learning, robot perception, manipulation, natural interaction and communication with robots, human-robot interaction, soft robotics and responsible robotics. The exposure to top researchers in the field from different German institutions and the possibility of exchanges with students from other German universities are unique opportunities offered by this lecture series

Recommendations:
Knowledge of the content of module Robotics I - Introduction to Robotics is helpful.

 

Depending on the number of attending students, the assessment is carried out as an oral examination (§ 4 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 SPO) lasting 20 minutes or as a written examination (§ 4 Abs. 2 No. 1 SPO) lasting 120 minute.

 

The art of assessment will be announced at least six weeks before the end of the course. The default type of examination is oral.

 

Workload:
Lecture series with 2 SWS, 3 LP.
3 LP corresponds to approx. 90 hours, of which:

  • approx. 22.5 hrs of compulsory attendance
  • approx. 45 hours of literature research
  • approx. 22.5 hrs. exam preparation
