Tobias Jacob
Tobias Jacob is PhD student and research scientist since 2022 at the High Performance Humanoid Technologies Lab at the Institute for Anthropomatics and Robotics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). His research focuses on combining classical control theroy algorithms with modern machine learning techniques. This includes human-robot collaboration, reinforcement learning, computer vision and natural langauge processing.
He obtained his dual bachelor degree at RWTH Aachen university with a focus on mechanical, electiral and computer engineering. Through a stipend he was able to do his masters degree in the United States at the University of West Florida. During this time he also joined the Florida Research Institute for Human & Machine Cognition, working on reinforcement learning approaches for Drones and Humanoid Robots like Atlas
Tobias Jacob participated in multiple competitions. Some of the recent ones are listed below:
- March 2022: ICPC 3rd place (out of 33 teams), programming contest
- November 2021: HackTheMachine 1st place (out of 43 teams) - 15000$ price for a LightGBM model for malware classification.
- March 2021: HackTheMachine 5th place (out of 20 teams) for a natural language processing model to classify the danger of COVID in different scenarios.
- January 2021: Ai tracks at sea challenge 3rd place (out of 32 teams) - 35000$ price for a computer vision model determining the GPS coordinate of a ship.
